This page explains what this website, crane-editor.com, collects and why. In short: there are no accounts, cookies, analytics or ads. The site keeps only what you send through the feedback form and a count of downloads.

Who we are

This website and Crane are made by the Crane developers (“we”, “us”). For anything about your data, write to privacy@crane-editor.com.

Browsing the site

The site sets no cookies and runs no analytics, ads or tracking scripts. Its pages load nothing from other companies’ servers: the fonts and images come from this site.

The site runs on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare receives your IP address and the details of each request, such as the page and your browser, in order to deliver the page and protect the site from attacks. We don’t store these details ourselves. Cloudflare describes what it does with them in its privacy policy.

The feedback form

When you send a message through the feedback form, we keep:

  • the type you picked (feedback, feature request or bug report);
  • your message;
  • your email address, if you gave one;
  • the time it was sent.

The email address is optional. We use it only to reply about your message. It isn’t added to any mailing list, and it isn’t shared or sold.

The message is stored in a database at Cloudflare. A copy, with the email address if you gave one, is filed as an issue in a private repository on GitHub, so it reaches the list of things to work on. GitHub describes what it does with data in its privacy statement.

To stop the form from being flooded, Cloudflare counts how many messages each IP address sends in a minute. The count is held in memory for about a minute, and nothing about your IP address is stored.

Please don’t put passwords or other people’s personal details in a message.

Downloads

When you download Crane, we record which file it was, the country the request came from (as Cloudflare reports it) and the time, so we can count downloads. Your IP address isn’t recorded.

How long we keep it

Feedback is kept for as long as it’s useful for working on Crane, and deleted sooner if you ask. Download records are kept as statistics.

Legal basis

We keep feedback because you chose to send it, and you can withdraw that consent at any time by asking us to delete it. We count downloads, and Cloudflare handles requests, because running and protecting the site is in our legitimate interest.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted. Write to privacy@crane-editor.com, from the address you used in the form if you gave one, or tell us roughly when you sent the message and what it said.

If you live in the EU, the UK or another place with similar laws, you can also complain to your data protection authority.

Changes

If what the site collects changes, this page will be updated first, along with the date at the top. The terms of use cover the rest of using the site and Crane.
